About Jessie Franco
I'm an occupational therapist based in Boston. I earned my Master's in Occupational Therapy from Boston University in 2012 and my post-professional Doctorate from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2022. I currently practice at a Level I Trauma Center and teach as a lecturer at Boston University.
I built this site as part of my doctoral project at MGH IHP, but honestly, it came from frustration. Early in my career, I wanted to work in the ICU and couldn't find organized, accessible resources to help me get there. What existed was scattered across textbooks, journal articles, and the institutional knowledge of colleagues who weren't always easy to reach. So I took courses, read the research, interviewed practitioners across the country, and built the resource I wished had existed.
Everything on this site is evidence-based. Every page is cited. My goal is to give therapy practitioners - OTs, PTs, and SLPs - the knowledge and confidence to show up in the ICU and do good work for patients who need us there.
If you're curious about working in the ICU, you're in the right place.
